We are delighted to announce that following her successful debut with the orchestra in October 2020, Tianyi Lu has been appointed Conductor-in-Residence of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Succeeding Jan Willem de Vriend, Tianyi commences the position from the 2021/22 season, for an initial commitment of two years.
Tianyi will next appear with the orchestra in August 2021, conducting an all-Brahms programme as part of the Stavanger Chamber Music Festival.

Tianyi Lu wins First Prize at the 9th International Sir Georg Solti International Conductors' Competition. The second prize is shared by Gábor Hontvári and the German Johannes Zahn.

Tianyi Lu is one of 3 finalists in the 9th International Conducting Competition Sir Georg Solti held in Frankfurt, performing works by Beethoven in the final concerts on Sunday 11th October at the Alte Oper with the Frankfurter Opern und Museumsorchester. The 10 candidates were chosen from 437 applicants and the first and second round were in collaboration with the hr-Sinfonieorchester.

Tianyi has won first prize at the 11th Edition of the International Conducting Competition "Guido Cantelli" in Novara and Turin, Italy. She also won the Teatro Regio Torino Orchestra Award, voted by the orchestra, the Youth Award, voted by members of high school students, and artistic contracts to conduct a concert with the Fondazione Teatro Coccia and one with the Teatro Regio Torino. Previous winners include Riccardo Muti (1967), Eliahu Inbal (1963), Ádám Fischer and Lothar Zagrosek(1973), Hubert Soudant (1975), and Donato Renzetti (1980).
