Tianyi Lu wins First Prize at the 9th International Sir Georg Solti International Conductors' Competition. The second prize is shared by Gábor Hontvári and the German Johannes Zahn.

Tianyi Lu is one of 3 finalists in the 9th International Conducting Competition Sir Georg Solti held in Frankfurt, performing works by Beethoven in the final concerts on Sunday 11th October at the Alte Oper with the Frankfurter Opern und Museumsorchester. The 10 candidates were chosen from 437 applicants and the first and second round were in collaboration with the hr-Sinfonieorchester.

Tianyi has won first prize at the 11th Edition of the International Conducting Competition "Guido Cantelli" in Novara and Turin, Italy. She also won the Teatro Regio Torino Orchestra Award, voted by the orchestra, the Youth Award, voted by members of high school students, and artistic contracts to conduct a concert with the Fondazione Teatro Coccia and one with the Teatro Regio Torino. Previous winners include Riccardo Muti (1967), Eliahu Inbal (1963), Ádám Fischer and Lothar Zagrosek(1973), Hubert Soudant (1975), and Donato Renzetti (1980).

Tianyi has been announced the Female Conductor in Residence with the Welsh National Opera starting in August 2019, including conducting performances of a new production of Bizet's Carmen in the UK in 2020.

Tianyi will be one of four conductors to work with Danielle Gatti and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in a Masterclass in June. The repertoire will include Stravinsky's Rite of Spring as well as pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Mendelssohn.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic has named Tianyi Lu as one of the Dudamel Fellows for the 2017/2018 season.

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has just announced Tianyi Lu as their new Assistant Conductor.

Tianyi has been chosen as one of six to attend the Dallas Institute for Women Conductors with the Dallas Opera later this year.

Tianyi has been made Music Director of the Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra starting in September this year.

Tianyi has been invited to conduct another concert with the Manukau Symphony Orchestra in August 2016.

Tianyi will be assisting Thomas Søndergård with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales starting in August this year.

Tianyi reached the final round of the auditions for the Hallé Assistant Conductor post and will be invited to work as a Guest Assistant Conductor with Mark Elder and the Hallé Orchestra in September this year.

Tianyi was voted as one of the top 3 finalists at the 12th Interaktion Workshop by players from the Berlin Philharmonic and orchestras all over Germany, out of a pool of 38 applicants and 10 chosen participants.
